Common questions from Customers

Does the warranty stay with the vehicle?
Yes, the Certified Pre-Owned warranty is fully transferable. If you sell your Certified Pre-Owned vehicle, the remaining Powertrain Limited Warranty and Comprehensive Limited Warranty coverage remains in effect for the new owner and there is no transfer fee required .

Is the limited warranty coverage 100,000 miles plus the current mileage ?
No. The warranty coverage is for up to a total of 100,000 miles on the odometer or 7 years from the original warranty start date, whichever comes first (6-years from original warranty start date for Lincoln vehicles).

Is the comprehensive warranty coverage 12,000 miles plus the current mileage ?
Yes. The warranty coverage is for up to a total of 12,000 miles from the mileage on the odometer at the time of sale or 12 months from the date of sale, whichever comes first.

Am I supposed to get a copy of the vehicle inspection checklist ?
Yes, as part of the vehicle delivery process, your dealership will provide you with the vehicle inspection checklist. This document will include the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) for your vehicle and will be signed by the Service Technician who performed the vehicle inspection, the Service Manager and the Pre-Owned manager.

How can I get a Vehicle History Report?
A copy of the vehicle history report will be provided as part of the vehicle delivery process.

Who owned this vehicle before I did?
Certified Pre-Owned vehicles come from a wide variety of sources. The vehicle could have been obtained by the dealership via a retail trade, from an off-lease customer, or purchased at auction. No matter how the vehicle was acquired, the vehicle must have passed the vehicle inspection process in order to be eligible for this program.

Why aren't all eligible vehicles certified?
Although eligible in terms of vehicle make, mileage, or model year requirements, not all vehicles may pass the vehicle inspection process. Only those vehicles that pass the inspection process may be certified.

Can I purchase a vehicle and have it certified?
No. Unlike extended service plans, the certified warranty must be placed on the vehicle by the dealership before offering the vehicle for sale, and therefore the certified warranty cannot be purchased at the time of the vehicle sale.
